Governor Rendell, Alums and Faculty Member Honored at CoAS 20th Anniversary

November 12, 2010 — The College of Arts and Sciences celebrated its 20th Anniversary on Friday, November 12, 2010. The event began with a Student Research Symposium in Mitchell Auditorium, where twelve students presented from disciplines across the College. The presentations exemplified the exciting research conducted at the undergraduate and graduate level in the humanities, social sciences and sciences, as well as the professionalism of these talented students.

The symposium was followed by a gala reception and dinner, hosted by Dean Murasko. Governor Edward G. Rendell was among the guests of honor, and was recognized for his important role in supporting the growth of the College of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, two alumni and one faculty member-- Dr. John Jewett, Jr. '69, Mr. Jay Meyers '73 and Emeritus Professor of Sociology Dr. Arthur Shostak-- were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their significant and lifelong contributions to their respective fields.
