• Week of Writing Panel Coverage

    Monday, May 17, 2010 marked the start of the Week of Writing (WoW) at Drexel, an annual event that features reading marathons, open mics, a book fair and numerous panel discussions where students can learn more about different styles of writing.

    Dr. James R. Spotila, Betz Chair Professor of Environmental Science, is considered one of the principal authorities on the physiological ecology of sea turtles. As the founding president of the International Sea Turtle Society and the president of the Leatherback Trust in Costa Rica, he is also one of the foremost advocates for the preservation of leatherback turtles.


  • CoAS Raises Awareness about Juárez Femicides

    Discussion turned to the film’s dramatization of events. “I had a lot of misgivings about the film,” said Ibieta, “[but] it works really well with a popular audience …[and] a lot of it is actually pretty factual.” She was referring specifically to the danger Lopez’s character encountered while investigating in Juárez. “In 2004, five investigative reporters disappeared … and at this point, Mexico is the second most dangerous place for journalists in the world,” Ibieta continued.
