Alisa Melekhina places third in 2009 Women's Chess Championship

January 8, 2010 — In October, Alisa Melekhina, a Drexel sophomore majoring in philosophy, won third place in the 2009 Women’s Chess Championship held at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis Missouri. The tournament was a ten-player, round robin, for the top ten female chess players in the country, as determined by official USCF rankings. Alisa, who is two-time USA Girl’s Champion and represented the United States in eight World Youth Championships, was the youngest participant in the tournament and gained national recognition in the chess world for outplaying many favorites in this tournament.
Jacob Harte graduated in June of 2010 with a B.A. in English.
Imani Nia Rutledge graduated in June of 2011 with a M.P.H. degree in Public Health, concentrating on Community Health and Prevention.
