The College of Arts and Sciences Honors Day, scheduled for May 17, 2023, gives our faculty, staff and alumni an opportunity to honor our students’ achievements in the classroom, lab and community.
112 awards will be distributed at the upcoming Honors Day ceremony. Many of the awards are accompanied by scholarships made possible by generous CoAS alumni who are eager to contribute to the ongoing success of students in their departments. These honors underscore the value of the scholarship and research that our students are conducting in the college year after year.
“I am extremely grateful to have been recognized and selected in 2022 for the General Electric College Bowl Endowed Scholarship,” said psychology and behavioral health counseling major Nina Wang. “The scholarship helped me immensely as a low-income first-generation student.”
Honors are awarded on a range of criteria including academic achievement, research, student participation, community engagement, mentorship, essay submission and outstanding personal character. In addition to honors being awarded from the College of Arts and Sciences, honors will be distributed by the following departments and programs: Africana Studies (1), Biodiversity, Earth and Environmental Science (8), Biology (1), Chemistry (9), Communication (1), Criminology and Justice Studies (3), English and Philosophy (5), Global Studies and Modern Languages (7), History (2), Jewish Studies (2), Math (15), Physics (10), Politics (6), Psychology (6), Sociology (1) and Women’s and Gender Studies (1).
