Evangelia Chrysikou, PhD Appointed Associate Dean for Research

Evangelia G. Chrysikou, PhD, from the Department of Psychology, has been appointed to a 3-year term as Associate Dean for Research to provide leadership to all research and scholarly/creative inquiry programs in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Chrysikou joined Drexel University from the University of Kansas as an Associate Professor in 2017. She is the recipient of a PhD from Temple University (2005) and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania (2006-2011).

A cognitive neuroscientist who focuses on processes associated with cognitive control, language, memory, creativity and problem solving, Chrysikou is the author of over 50 articles published in top-rated journals, including Journal of Experimental Psychology, NeuroImage, Brain Stimulation, Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychological Science. She has received funding from the NIH, the NSF and the Department of Transportation, among others. The impact of her work in neurostimulation and creativity is impressive and her record of citation is currently above 2,200.

Chrysikou brings to the position of Associate Dean for Research a robust service record at both the departmental, College and University-levels. She has given generously of her time to the Applied Cognitive and Brain Sciences PhD program, Symposium for Undergraduate Research in Psychology, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, Honors Students Award Committee, Undergraduate Research Engagement Committee and ACBS Alumni Outreach Committee. At the College- and University-levels, she has served on the Neuroimaging Initiative Committee, co-Chaired the exploratory committee for an Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Major, and was a reviewer for Drexel Publishing Group.

Chrysikou’s contribution to service extends to her profession as ad hoc reviewer of submissions to journals and granting agencies (e.g., NSF, NIH, Israeli Science Foundation), and as Associate Editor for a special issue for NeuroImage and Review Editor for Frontiers in Psychology. She has also held leadership roles with the Cognitive Neuroscience Society and has an upcoming appointment to the Presidency of the Society for the Neuroscience of Creativity.

In her new role, Chrysikou will contribute to the management, strategy and implementation of the College’s sponsored research programs (grants and contracts) as well as funding in support of scholarship and creative activities.
