Sheller to be Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Annenberg School of Communication this Fall

Mimi Sheller, professor of sociology and director of the Center for Mobilities Research and Policy will be the PARGC Distinguished Visiting Scholar in Global Communication at the Annenberg School of Communication, University of Pennsylvania, in the Fall of 2016. Sheller has also been awarded a production grant from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts to produce a documentary film, “Fly Me to the Moon” (director and co-producer, Esther Figueroa), based on her 2014 book “Aluminum Dreams” (MIT Press). During her sabbatical, Sheller also has been invited to present the book and film at the Tropenmuseum in the Netherlands and to teach a related short course on critical approaches to infrastructure at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in the Spring of 2017.
