Meghan Plank Wins 1st Place in CHI 2016 Student Research Competition
June 10, 2016
Meghan Plank, a senior Psychology Major, and Nishtha Dalal, an Information Systems Major, received 1st place in the CHI 2016 Student Research Competition for their presentation on designing behavior change technologies for breast cancer survivors (an at risk population for sedentary behavior). Informed by interviews with survivors, co-design sessions with clinicians, and a systematic review of behavioral theory, Plank and Dalal developed a methodological framework for balancing abstract theory and contextual evidence in design. They applied this framework to design Bounce - a smartphone app aimed at helping breast cancer survivors engage in daily physical activity.
