Forman Team Wins 2015 Drexel Ventures Innovation Fund Award for DietAlert

Dr. Evan Forman along with his team from the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Science (Drs. Meghan Butryn, Adrienne Juarascio, and Zoe Zhang, and graduate students Stephanie Goldstein, Stephanie Manasse and Britt Evans), the College of Engineering (Drs. Pramod Abichandani and graduate students Kyle Levin and William Fligor) and the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design (Dr. Jichen Zhu) are winners of a 2015 Drexel Ventures Innovation Fund Award for their project, DietAlert. The Drexel Innovation Fund Award is provides funds to develop promising Drexel technologies or services as well as funds and mentoring to commercialize those technologies. DietAlert is a new kind of smartphone app-based system that helps anticipate and prevent lapses in those attempting to follow a weight loss diet, currently the biggest hurdle facing those attempting to lose weight. DietAlert had already received seed/proof-of-concept funding through an award from Weight Watchers and The Obesity Society.
