Drexel University's STS Students Present at the 2017 STGlobal Conference

Drexel University is a member of STGlobal Consortium. The STGlobal Consortium is a group of universities with students interested in science and technology studies (STS), science and technology policy (STP), and other related topics. It hosts an international graduate student conference is dedicated to inquiry into science and technology policy and science and technology studies.
The conference also helps to promote the academic and professional advancement of graduate students in the field. Held at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C., the conference had over 100 attendees. Keynote speakers were Sainath Suryanarayanan, Assistant Scientist for the Study of Transdisciplinary Biomedical Research, University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Tolu Odumosu, Assistant Professor, Science, Technology and Society, University of Virginia.
The annual STGlobal conference is organized and run by and for graduate – and an increasing number of undergraduate – students interested in science and technology studies, science policy and other related fields. The organizing committee consists of volunteer representatives from each partner school, led by a board of directors and guided by a faculty advisory committee.
Drexel University STS graduate student Kendall Darfler, ’17, was the Director of the Panel and Abstract Committee; in this role, she helped write the call for presentations and led the evaluation of submissions. In addition to helping organize the conference, Drexel students participated as presenters.

A Drexel STS alum also presented original research:
