Bio:

Devon Thomas has been a higher education professional since 2005. Devon earned a BS degree from The Pennsylvania State University and a MEd from West Chester University.

In her first role at Eastern University, she worked as Associate University Registrar before realizing her passion was in academic advising. In 2010, she became a full-time adviser, working for Penn State with business students and, later, with students who were majoring in health and human development.

While at Penn State, Devon worked with the Smeal Student Mentors, where she presented the mentor organization plan relating to first year student orientation and retention to the 2013 National First Year Experience Conference, Orlando, Florida and The National NACADA Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Devon received both the 2017 Penn State Excellence in Advising and the 2017 Martha “Marty” Adams Undergraduate Advising Award for professional advisers. These recognitions rewarded her outstanding work with students as she encouraged student critical thinking, passion seeking, and humanitarian approaches to their education.

Devon started at Drexel in 2018, when she was hired as a Senior Academic Advisor for the Department of Psychology, where she continues to offer encouragement, passion, and organization to promote student success.

Devon resides in the Philadelphia suburbs where she supports her husband in his role as church pastor. When not working, Devon and her husband enjoy travel. Her lifelong goal is to visit all of the continents. She is halfway there. Can you guess which ones she has left on her list?
