On Friday, March 9, Scott Stein entertained a diverse group of guests at the book release party for his second novel, Mean Martin Manning. The event was held in the University Club on the sixth floor of MacAlister Hall.
Stein’s short, humorous "thank you" speech was delivered to a standing-room-only crowd of about 75 people, including students, relatives, co-workers and business associates. Mostly, Stein humbly joked about the release of the book and thanked all his guests for attending – noting that students, in particular, were not bribed into attending with promises of inflated grades.
Stein then read three chapters from the novel, whose main character, Martin Manning, just wants to be left alone. After the reading and a thunderous round of applause, cake was cut and autographs were graciously signed.
