Dean's Seminar: Women's Perinatal Journey and The Mother-Baby Connections Program

Wednesday, May 24, 2017

3:30 PM-5:00 PM

Pamela Geller, PhD, associate professor of psychology

Women can experience a variety of adverse reproductive-related events and responses on the journey towards motherhood. For some, the experience of pregnancy is largely uneventful, while others confront significant challenges such as infertility, pregnancy loss and preterm delivery/NICU admission. Nationally, approximately 20 percent of all women experience perinatal mental health problems, particularly postpartum depression.

Join Pamela Geller, PhD, as she discusses psychological responses to reproductive events in childbearing women and introduces Mother-Baby Connections, a recently launched interdisciplinary, intensive outpatient mental health program for pregnant and postpartum women experiencing anxiety and depression that she co-directs at Drexel.

The College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Seminars are free and open to the Drexel community. Light refreshments will be served.
