Drexel-CHOP Animation Collaborative Film Festival with Patient Filmmakers and Drexel Students
Wednesday, May 2, 2018
12:30 PM-1:30 PM
Please join us for this special event featuring the imaginative work of four patients from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, who collaborated with Drexel students to bring their ideas to life in 3-D animations.
This project is an offshoot of Story Medicine, a unique community-based learning course from Drexel University College of Arts and Sciences. Four CHOP patients with long-term hospitalizations worked alongside upper-level Drexel CoAS Story Medicine students to develop their own original creative stories, scripts and storyboards. The Drexel Story Medicine students filmed live-action versions of the scripts in the lobby of CHOP, with the patients directing all aspects of the filming from the director's chair. Story Medicine students then collaborated with Westphal animation students utilizing Drexel's Motion Capture studio to bring patient stories to life in two-minute, immersive 3-D animated shorts based entirely upon the children's ideas.
