May 9, 2013 — Dr. Donna Sabella, an assistant clinical professor and Director of Global Studies, authored a chapter of the book Sex Trafficking: A Clinical Guide for Nurses, which was published this year by Springer. The chapter, titled Health Issues and Interactions with Adult Survivors, addresses the various emotional and physical health problems that those who are sex trafficked present with and how nurses can work with adult victims to help support and treat them. The book targets nurses and other health professionals who may encounter victims of sex trafficking in their work. Human trafficking is on the rise both in the United States and abroad, and sex trafficking occurs in large numbers. Sex Trafficking: A Clinical Guide for Nurses offers clear, concise and valuable information about how to recognize and treat victims from experts who have direct experience working with this population.
