Drexel University’s Online Nursing Programs Earn Top Honors in U.S. News and World Report Rankings
Philadelphia, PA, January 17, 2012 —
Drexel University ranked 2nd in the nation for its online graduate nursing program according to U.S. News and World Report’s inaugural online college rankings. The rankings mark the first time that the magazine has evaluated online higher education programs.
Receiving special acclaim for “Student Services and Technology” and “Student Engagement and Accreditation,” Drexel’s College of Nursing and Health Professions offers Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN), Master’s of Nursing (MSN), and highly-lauded Doctor of Nursing Practice (DrNP) degrees online, as well as several specialized post-Bachelor’s certificate programs.
Drexel College of Nursing and Health Professions Dean Dr. Gloria Donnelly said, “We’re very proud of Drexel Nursing’s reputation both on-campus and online. National recognition is gratifying to the faculty and staff who design and teach Drexel’s innovative, high quality online nursing programs. Drexel has been offering online nursing programs since 1999. The faculty is highly experienced at engaging students and creating effective online learning communities. The faculty, staff and leadership of our DNP, MSN and RN-BSN online programs constantly monitor course and instructional quality, outcomes and student satisfaction and use the findings to innovate and improve.”
Drexel University, a private non-profit institution located in Philadelphia, PA, has earned on-campus recognition from U.S. News and World Report before, including a 2011 ranking as the 6th-highest “Up-and-Coming” college in the nation and a top-100 institution overall.
“Online learning is special because it gives students across the country and the world a unique opportunity to receive a top-ranked education and transform their lives,” said Drexel University Online president Dr. Ken Hartman. “We’re pleased that U.S. News has chosen to rank online colleges and recognize Drexel University Online for its commitment to online education and to those students who may not have the opportunity to receive an education from a school like Drexel in an on-campus environment.”
Drexel has been a pioneer in online education for nearly two decades, first offering e-Learning classes in 1996. The university has been consistently recognized as one of the nation’s best universities for online learning, including a 2010 Sloan-C Award for Excellence in Institution-Wide Online Education.
