March 1, 2013
Paul Nolan, PhD, an assistant clinical professor and Director of Music Therapy Education in the Creative Arts Therapies Department, was interviewed for an article titled A Pain Playlist: Using Music for Pain Therapy. “Music therapy is creative improvisation and reflection that works to change the pain response,” he said. The article elaborates on the roles patient-music therapist relationships, musical preferences, reflection, the creative act, and stress reduction have in music therapy interventions for pain management.
