Jeannine Uribe, PhD, RN, received her undergraduate nursing degree from Purdue University in Indiana. She completed her master’s degree in public health nursing at La Salle University in Philadelphia. Dr. Uribe received her PhD in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She researched the history of Chilean nursing and the triangular interactions between nurses, governments and philanthropies in Chile up to the 1950s for her doctoral dissertation.
Her area of research specializes in nursing history with a focus on international, professional collaboration, philanthropic health care projects, and Latin American healthcare. Dr. Uribe has worked as a nurse in several of the neighborhoods of Philadelphia for the past 20 years and is interested in urban public health issues and caring for immigrant populations. She is a member of the American Association of the History of Nursing, the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau.
