Michelle Sahl is an Associate Professor in the Health Administration Program in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. Prior to joining the College’s faculty, Dr. Sahl was principal and owner of MJSahl Consulting, a Philadelphia health care management and consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, market assessment, and public policy analyses for health care, governmental, and non-profit organizations.
For over twenty years, Dr. Sahl’s health care industry experience has ranged from health services research and program administration in major academic medical centers, to teaching engagements at area universities, including Drexel’s School of Public Health. Dr. Sahl has blended her experiential background with her academic training in management, bioethics and health policy in program planning and administration initiatives to improve inner city health status. She shares her enthusiasm for translating theory-to-practice with college and graduate students who will take health
Prior to establishing her consulting business, Dr. Sahl held positions at Tufts-New England Medical Center, Harvard University, Laventhol & Horwath, the University of Pennsylvania Health System, and MEDIQ Consulting Group. She holds degrees from Northwestern University (B.A., psychology), Boston University (M.Ed., counseling), Northeastern University (M.B.A., health care management), the University of Pennsylvania (MBE / Master’s degree in Bioethics), and the University of the Sciences
Dr. Sahl teaches coursework at Drexel that includes introductory health systems administration, health services management, health care policy, urban health care, and health and vulnerable populations.
Dr. Sahl is currently a member of Academy Health, the American Public Health Association, the Association of University Programs in Health Administration, the Public Health Section of the Philadelphia College of Physicians, and the International Society of Urban Health. In addition, Dr. Sahl currently holds an appointment to the Advisory Board of Salus University’s College of Health Sciences.
