Sharon Byrne, DrNP, CRNP, NP-C, AOCNP, CNE is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the College of Nursing and Health Professions and Track Coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Her research interests include factors influencing participation and non-participation in breast cancer screening in minority and under-served populations, specifically acculturation and healthcare avoidance behaviors.

Doctor Byrne received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Drexel University within the Educator/Practitioner tracks. She was the class of 2006 clinical scholar. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and as an Advanced Oncology Nurse Practitioner by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation/Oncology Nursing Society. Doctor Byrne received her BSN from LaSalle University and an MSN and post-master’s certificate in Healthcare Administration and as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Widener University. She is member of various professional organizations and is a peer reviewer for Oncology Nursing Forum.

Areas of practice experience include primary care of families, college health, school nursing, oncology, occupational health, and women’s health. She continues her current clinical practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse at the Cancer Screening Project, Cooper University Hospital, Camden, New Jersey. Dr. Byrne received certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) by the NLN.
