Jean S. MacFadyen, Ph.D., R.N. has had a vast amount of experience in the entrepreneurial field. She worked for the E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., Inc. of Wilmington, DE, for 13 years in the Medical and Polymer Products Departments. Her specialty was new business development, mostly related to health care products. Dr. MacFadyen traveled around the world identifying and following up on new business opportunities. She was selected from more than 3000 employees worldwide to be one of the first recipients of the honored Polymer Products Department’s Marketing Excellence Awards in 1987. In 1996, she started her own business, MacFadyen Learning Enterprises, teaching older adults how to the computer, as prophylactic health care. This business continues today.
Dr. MacFadyen has more than 13 years of experience teaching nursing in the classroom and clinical setting. For the last 10 years, she has been actively involved in gerontological nursing, with experience as a charge nurse in skilled nursing facilities, adjunct faculty member for Drexel University, and Board member and President of the Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatrics Society in 2004. She is also a Trustee of Philadelphia Biblical University, Langhorne, PA and is a member of their Academic Standards Committee. Her undergraduate education was obtained from Wheaton College (IL – BA, sociology) and Columbia University (NY-BSN, nursing). Both her MS.Ed. and Ph.D. (higher education administration) are from the University of Pennsylvania.
