Health Services Administration/Law - BS/JD Dual-Degree Program

The newly-inaugurated BS/JD program is designed for students in the Health Services Administration Program, who wish to pursue an accelerated undergraduate curriculum, leading to graduate study in the Juris Doctor Program of the Thomas R. Kline School of Law. In the new accelerated, dual degree program, students will participate in the Health Services Administration Program for three years (nine academic quarters, either with one co-operative experience or with no co-operative experience). After three years of undergraduate study, students will begin their graduate studies in the Juris Doctor Program.

Thirty-four quarter credits from the first year of graduate study will be credited toward completion of the students’ Bachelor of Science degrees. At the successful completion of the first year of graduate study, the students will receive their BS degrees. When the students successfully complete the remainder of their graduate studies (after two more years), they will receive their Juris Doctor degrees.

We feel that there is a strong market for the new accelerated, dual degree program among prospective students who have firmly established goals of pursuing careers in Health Administration and Law. The job market in Health Administration is very strong now. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has stated that employment in the health professions will grow over the next decade at a rate much in excess of that of the general employment pool.
