11th
Street Family Health Services of Drexel University: AmeriCorps
11th
Street first partnered with AmeriCorps in 2001 with AmeriCorps members
Russ McIntire and Krysten Loielo. Both were members of our Outreach
team and together built many relationships with community members.
Russ and Krysten developed programs for kids to get in shape and to
learn about nutrition. Russ served 11th Street as an AmeriCorps member
for two years and was later hired as a full time employee of 11th
Street. Krysten also served two years with us and was hired to serve
many different needs of 11th Street.

As the years progressed, new AmeriCorps members arrived to the Outreach
team. Brooke Lowe came to 11th Street in October of 2004 and served
in many capacities. She helped with all of the kids fitness and
nutrition programs, our weekly food giveaway and the many food and
clothes drives we had here, as well as helping in Primary Care when
needed.
In November of 2005 11th Street decided to partner with AmeriCorps*VISTA
to help develop new programs and help with the kids programs. Andria
Weiss joined the team in November of 2004 and Erik Hunley in January
of 2005. Both helped with kids fitness and nutrition programs, our
weekly food giveaway, Reach out and Read, and program development
The
most recent addition to the Outreach department is Rowland Chavez
who comes to us from UPenn. Rowland is working with children’s
programming and helping run the new SPLASH! Program with our partners
at the Columbia North YMCA and the Arthritis Foundation.
