Developing An Effective Nurse Educator Academic Portfolio For Career Growth & Advancement - DUNEI 2013
June 20, 2013 — Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions, Division of Continuing Nursing Education.
As nurses and nurse educators increase their presence in both the clinical and
academic realms due to the push for seamless and advanced education for learners, it is necessary that they
present themselves in their best light to the academic and practice communities. Developing a teaching portfolio for
reflection, promotion, or tenure is not an intuitive endeavor and one that is rarely taught in nurse educators’
curriculum. Developing a teaching portfolio is a skill that is imperative for nurse educators to learn in order for them
to advance in academia or healthcare organizations. A well-developed portfolio also teaches other academics and
practitioners about the discipline and scholarship of nursing science. Nurse educators’ professional teaching.
