The Art and Science of Moulage in Simulation

November 23, 2014 - Philadelphia, PA
Drexel University Health Sciences Building
Registration: 7:30am - 8:00am
Program Schedule: 8:00am - 3:45pm

Simulation is becoming more and more engrained in nursing education curriculum, which means the realism of the simulations is more important than ever. With moulage, the simulated injuries or illnesses on either a human patient simulator or a standardized patient can seem as real as it might in a clinical setting. This program, created by Drexel University Continuing Nursing Education, will focus on the history and evolution of moulage, the creation process of wounds for both mannequins and actors, and how to best create an immersive, temporary reality for the students. Tips and techniques on how to create applicable, moulage-rich simulations on a budget will be shared, along with how to restore your lab to look like new again after the simulation.
