Marcia Derby-Davis, PhD, RN has been a nurse in south Florida for over 20 years. She began her nursing career in Chattanooga, TN where she obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing. She later obtained her BSN from Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, FL an MSN from the University of Phoenix, and a Ph.D. in nursing from Barry University in Miami, FL. Dr. Derby-Davis is passionate about nursing and nursing education. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Nova Southeastern University, in the undergraduate nursing program in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Mary E. Foley RN, PhD is the Director in the Center for Nursing Research and Innovation at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Nursing. She worked with the Center as Associate Director since 2004 in partnership with three Bay Area academic medical centers and became Director in 2011. Mary has worked with the Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes (CALNOC) since 2004, and from 2009-2012 was Director, Education Services for CALNOC. Mary is currently a consultant for Business Development for CALNOC. In those roles, Mary has developed an area of expertise in nursing sensitive care measures, with special emphasis on medication safety. Mary is past president of the American Nurses Association from 2000-2002 and the National Student Nurses Association while she was a student in the 1970’s. Read More...

William L. Holzemer, RN, PhD, FAAN is Professor and Dean of the College of Nursing at Rutgers The State University of New Jersey. Dr. Holzemer’s program of research examines quality of nursing education, quality of nursing care, outcomes research, variation in practice, self-care symptom management, and quality of life, with special emphasis on people living with and affected by HIV infection. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine, Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, a member of the Japan Academy of Nursing, and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Rich has developed numerous patient safety initiatives for healthcare systems both nationally and internationally. Her experiential knowledge enabled her to develop a model for creating a risk reduction culture in healthcare through the process of systemic mindfulness. She is an acknowledged expert in root cause analysis and in the development of corrective action plans for hospitals and state and federal agencies. In 1997, Dr. Rich co-founded Rich Consultants and has provided consultation and expertise in Patient Safety and Nursing Leadership Practice worldwide. She has been a visiting Scholar for numerous United States Schools of Nursing and also in the countries of Japan, China, Qatar, England, Switzerland and Botswana.
