Schoolyard Ventures Summer Program

Learn how to launch a business, while developing business skills, building your resume and having fun! On campus at Drexel University’s Close School of Entrepreneurship

Dates: July 16th – July 27th, 2018.

Location: On Campus at Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA

Ages: Current 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th grade students may apply

Description: The Entrepreneurial Ventures Program gives teens the opportunity to become entrepreneurs and to build the skills and mindset required to solve real world problems. Students will learn from experienced entrepreneurs how to use entrepreneurship, not only to generate revenue but to improve the world. Since 2009, Schoolyard Ventures has helped over 1,300 students launch ventures ranging from app development companies and micro-finance projects to fashion labels and food startups.

Students will learn how to:

  • Identify market opportunities
  • Test venture ideas quickly
  • Develop a plan for launching a venture
  • Create a compelling value proposition
  • Leverage their entrepreneurial activities to secure internships
  • Start developing a professional network
  • Understand how customers, employers and colleges view them and their strengths
  • Present their ideas to potential investors and advocates

Students will also have the opportunity to take a guided campus tour, meet with the admissions team, meet Drexel students and learn about Drexel’s entrepreneurship offerings at the Close School of Entrepreneurship.


Option 1: Day Program with second week overnight experience: $1,795. Full two week program, July 16th – July 27th, includes 5 overnight stays in Drexel dorms July 22nd – 27th. Breakfast and lunch included. Dinners included during the second week.

Option 2: Full Residential Program: $2,795. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Move-in evening of July 15th, move-out afternoon of July 27th.

50% Deposit due upon acceptance into the program

Early Decision Deadline: February 15th ($100 discount)

Regular Decision Deadline: April 1st (or earlier if spots are filled)
