The next CHP Educational Forum features guest speaker will be Roberta R. Friendman from Yale University’s Rudd Center. The title of the lecture is: "Strategic Science" and It's Implications for Policy Changes to Prevent Obesity.
The Yale Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity conducts “strategic science”—science designed to inform and affect social and policy change—on a variety of issues. These include marketing of junk food to children, school and pre-school nutrition, weight bias, and sugary drinks. In this presentation, Roberta Friedman will present their research and its implications for policy changes to prevent obesity.
Roberta R. Friedman, ScM, is the Director of Public Policy at Yale University’s Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity. She educates federal, state, and local policy makers and advocacy organizations about food policy and obesity research, and provides resources to help them write and implement effective obesity prevention policies. Roberta manages a “Voices for Healthy Kids: Healthy Drinks” initiative, which provides technical assistance, webinars, and written resources for advocates working to reduce sugary drink consumption among children. She received her Master of Science at the Harvard School of Public Health.
