Philadelphia and the Innovation Neighborhood
As the hub of entrepreneurship research and education at Drexel, the Close School is at the center of the University's culture of innovation. We can connect you to the people, places and resources that will help you foster your idea, find a team and take part in Philadelphia's vibrant entrepreneurship community.
The Innovation Neighborhood
The Close School a key component of a long-term strategic plan for Drexel University that includes the development of the area around 30th Street Station into an “Innovation Neighborhood.” Drexel will become one of the country's most dynamic and inviting urban universities: an essential civic, intellectual and business partner, and a welcoming physical gateway to Philadelphia. This ambitious plan includes a number of entrepreneurial resources that are redefining entrepreneurship research and education at Drexel, including the Baiada Institute for Entrepreneurship, the ExCITe Center and Drexel Ventures.
Entrepreneurship Resources at Drexel
Baiada Institute for Entrepreneurship
As the home to more than a dozen student and alumni-run companies, the Baiada Institute provides student entrepreneurs the physical space, mentoring and resources to start your first (or next) big thing. Baiada also hosts workshops and events for members of the Drexel and Philadelphia communities to hone their entrepreneurial skills.
The ExCITe Center (Expressive & Creative Interactive Technologies) is a space for creative people who want to work together on innovative projects benefitting the Philadelphia region and beyond. ExCITe is a University-wide strategic initiative bringing together faculty, students and entrepreneurs from engineering, design, the arts, computer and information science, product design and many other fields to pursue multi-disciplinary collaborative projects.
Drexel Ventures amplifies Drexel University’s capacity for translational research, discovery and innovation. It helps faculty and students commercialize their inventions and launch new businesses around them, drives large-scale innovation at the Drexel and within Philadelphia, and is the front door for the private sector to connect with Drexel’s core competencies and talented faculty.
