Being a good neighbor. That’s our promise.
At Drexel we are cognizant that our beautiful University City campus is part of an urban neighborhood that is home not only to our students, faculty and staff. It is also home to children, seniors, families and individuals who have lived here for decades — even centuries.

Drexel has made a commitment to enhance the quality of life and increase economic stability in our community through a series of Neighborhood Initiatives. Our faculty, students, trustees and administration are aligned with our neighbors in Mantua and Powelton Village to address six different key areas that, taken together, will strengthen our community and improve the quality of life for residents.
In partnership with our neighbors, our initiatives include investment in public safety and security, homeownership, retail and the arts, economic development, health and wellness, and education.
Drexel's Neighborhood Initiatives provide a comprehensive and long-term strategy. We join our academic expertise and extensive service efforts with institutional investments to create a collaborative, coordinated approach. Drexel works closely with local residents, nonprofits, City agencies, and corporate and foundation partners to bring new opportunities to the neighborhood.
We are proud of the progress we have made. And we will continue to be a neighbor that brings value, ideas and resources to West Philadelphia.
