Our Goal: More Health and Wellness Resources for Residents

Drexel University believes in a collaborative approach to improving health and wellness opportunities in the community. From new partnerships to increased healthy food options for local residents to support for afterschool athletic programs, Drexel is working closely with its neighborhood partners to identify new wellness opportunities that benefit local residents of all ages.

Highlights

  • Drexel and the Mantua Community Improvement Committee (MCIC) join forces for Celebrate Health! – an annual health fair that provides residents with direct access to local medical resources, doctors, and medical personnel. These services include blood pressure screenings, eye exams, and other common health check-ups. The event also engages neighborhood young people in a fun and creative way. Drexel is working on several other initiatives in the neighborhood to increase healthy food options and coordinate afterschool athletics opportunities.
  • The Lindy Neighbors Program supports a number of initiatives in the West Philadelphia community to optimize health and wellness education, to green and renovate City playgrounds, and to support the City's Healthy Corner Store initiative. The program also provides student community interns to work with individual non-profits and businesses to help build capacity and provide support.
