Drexel’s College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) is proud to participate in the upcoming ALISE 2015 Annual Conference (Jan. 25-27, 2015) and ALA Midwinter Meeting (Jan. 30-Feb. 3, 2015) in Chicago, IL.
At ALISE:
- Teaching Professor Toni Carbo will be part of a juried panel titled “Looking Back and Looking Forward,” with Kathryn La Barre, David Dubin and Carol Tilley. The panel will situate current issues of LIS education in a changing society with respect to analogous problems during the past 125 years, and the ways our founding mothers rose to meet those challenges. (Wednesday, January 28, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.)
- Associate Teaching Professor Linda Marion will be part of a juried panel titled “Seeking Balance in the Academy: Inclusion of Contingent Faculty in Governance,” with Elizabeth Aversa, Catherine Closet-Crane, Beverly Lynch and Jennifer Sweeney (adjunct faculty member, CCI). During this session, former LIS deans/directors and faculty will respond to the recent AAUP recommendations for inclusion of contingent faculty in governance. (Thursday, January 29, 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.)
- On Wednesday, January 28 from 7:30-9 p.m., CCI will be a sponsor of the Doctoral Student Research Poster Session and Reception, held in the Grand Ballroom at the Intercontinental Hotel.
At the ALA Midwinter Meeting:
- CCI and Drexel University Online will be exhibiting at booth #3432. Stop by to learn more about our online and on-campus graduate and professional development programs.
- Associate Professor Denise Agosto will be presenting the results of her ALISE/OCLC research grant, which she won last year, with June Abbas of University of Oklahoma, on "A New Role for Libraries: Promoting Teens' Safety and Security in the Digital Age." (Friday, January 30, from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.)
- CCI will be hosting a FREE networking reception for Drexel alumni in conjunction with the ALA Midwinter Meeting. Mingle with fellow alumni and students, and meet CCI faculty and professional staff members. All Drexel alumni and students living in the Chicago area and/or attending the ALA Midwinter Meeting are invited to attend.
