Graduate Program

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering offers two graduate programs: an M.S. in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.

The M.S. program has a thesis and non-thesis option. The thesis option provides students an opportunity to conduct research leading to a written thesis and oral defense of the thesis. The non-thesis option provides students with an opportunity to enhance areas of specialization suited to their future career paths, including, for example, biological engineering, computational engineering, engineering management, energy, environment & sustainability, and polymers.

The Ph.D. program is centered on students conducting a research project that leads to an original written thesis and oral defense of the thesis work. Students graduating from the program have successful careers in research & development, management, consulting, and academia.
