June 1, 2018
Congratulations to CASTLE’s two Co-Directors, Dr. Jason Silverman and Dr. Jennifer Stanford. Silverman received a promotion from Associate Professor to Professor and Stanford received tenure status and a promotion from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. The Board of Trustees granted these approvals in May. This is a well-earned accomplishment and CASTLE is honored to celebrate their success in their academic careers.
Professor Jason Silverman is a Professor of Mathematics Education in the School of Education at Drexel. He earned his PhD from Vanderbilt University. Silverman serves as a Co-Director of CASTLE and the Principal Investigator of DragonsTeach, which is a university wide effort to recruit and prepare undergraduate STEM majors for careers in secondary education. His research interests include mathematics teacher education and supporting the pedagogical development of pre-service STEM teachers, effective use of technology in mathematics teaching, online teacher professional development and the intersections between K-12, undergraduate and graduate STEM learning and teaching.
Associate Professor Jennifer Stanford is an Associate Professor of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences. She earned her PhD from Harvard University. Stanford serves as a Co-Director of CASTLE and is the Principal Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Sustaining Excellence Program (HHMI) which focuses on improving the retention of STEM undergraduates. Stanford’s current work focuses on: evaluating approaches to increase student access to undergraduate research opportunities, incorporating evidence-based thinking into diverse learning environments, and developing practical training opportunities to support STEM student professional development.
Please join CASTLE Faculty and Staff in congratulating Dr. Silverman and Dr. Stanford on their professional achievements!
