Drexel University’s CASTLE’s Center Joins CIRTL Network
October 26, 2016
The Center for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning Excellence (CASTLE) recently joined the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning network. The CIRTL network is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded network that is comprised of 46 Research-1 institutions with a shared goal of improving the diversity of STEM fields and the STEM literacy of the nation. Members of the CIRTL Network work to prepare future STEM faculty for careers that include undergraduate college and university teaching.
Drexel’s CASTLE – CIRTL program will help prepare graduate and postdoctoral scholars for a faculty career, aides in the practice of scholarly teaching, reflecting on and assessing one’s own teaching, and knowledge of, and implementing, evidence-based pedagogy.
As a member of a CIRTL institution, Drexel University STEM graduate students and postdocs will have two different kinds of opportunities – opportunities to take online courses and workshops, and in-person opportunities for CASTLE-CIRTL programming.
