The First Annual Bridging UTeach & Engineering Workshop was a wonderful opportunity to speak to colleagues and hear from expert panels! There were several great sessions, including a panel of engineering students from DragonsTeach, but the real value was the discussion across institutions and disciplines focused on engaging more engineering students and faculty in UTeach. To continue the momentum generated at this workshop, we plan to organize follow-up meetings at the UTeach Conference in May and perhaps at other national engineering conferences.
Another highlight of the meeting was hearing about the TeachEngineering digital library from the folks at CUTeach. TeachEngineering is a searchable, web-based digital library collection populated with standards-based engineering curricula for use by K–12 teachers and engineering faculty to make applied science and math come alive through engineering design in K–12 settings. The TeachEngineering collection provides educators with free access to a growing curricular resource of activities, lessons, units and living labs.
