DragonsTeach Winter Quarter 16-17 Catalog

November 23, 2016

DragonsTeach is a program that offers Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) majors the opportunity to receive secondary teaching certification alongside their degree and co-op experience. Depending on the area of study, students are eligible to receive high-school teaching certification in the following subjects: Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science.

DragonsTeach is always finding ways to recruit and engage new students every year, and this Winter quarter, DragonsTeach is offering two new courses to prospective students.

ESTM 201 – or DragonsTeach Step 1- gives students the chance to teach fun, hands on activities to elementary school students in Philadelphia. In this 1.5 credit course STEM majors will be challenged to rethink traditional methods of teaching, introduced to additional career options, and encouraged to DO science and not just read about it. Students who complete the course and receive a grade of “B” or better receive $125 DragonDollars!

ESTM T380 – or Research in Math & Science- is designed to hyper drive students into rigorous scientific research methods. This course will provide students with the tools that today’s scientists use to solve global STEM problems, and will be introduced to new methods of scientific communication and presenting findings in a visually compelling manner.
