Please describe your study/research interests and why.

At Drexel I have completed a broad range of classes and research opportunities. Overall I have focused my research at Drexel with water quality and green infrastructure since our faculty members are very strong in those areas. The summer after my freshman year I stayed on campus to work under Dr. Haas and another Ph. D. candidate to track microbial trends in the Schuylkill River. This past summer I completed an Urban Design course where a group of students and I completed a design for a local school converting their grey space and playground into a usable green space with ample drainage.

Describe your co-op experience.  Include where you worked, a brief description of your duties, and what you learned.

For my three co-ops I have worked for the city of Philadelphia as well as for private consultants. My last co-op at Pennoni Associates allowed me to practice technical writing for a client. While at Pennoni I also performed monthly indoor air quality tests, carried out groundwater and soil sampling in various sites throughout the tri-state area, and developed a tracking system to help map previously completed projects to ensure cost effectiveness.

Describe any extracurricular activities that you participate in.

I have loved getting involved at Drexel University throughout the past five years. I have been a member and a mentor to the Engineering Learning Community (ELC), a Resident Assistant (RA), President of the Residence Hall Association, a Peer-Counselor for the College of Engineering, an active member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, Homecoming Queen in 2011, and a student member of both the Air and Waste Management Association and the Society of Women Environmental Professionals.

What you would like to do after graduation?

After graduation I hope to join an environmental consulting firm in the Philadelphia area that focuses on site remediation, air quality, or solid waste management.

Please explain what you like about Drexel’s Engineering Program.

My Environmental Engineering classes always were very small which allowed the professor to get to know their students very easily. Whenever I had a question about a homework assignment or a test the professors always made sure to be available during their office hours or over email. As a graduation senior I am also very appreciative of the Senior Design courses. These help prepare you to work as a team of engineers on a task with a set goal and budget.
