Indoor air quality (IAQ), building energy consumption, building automation and control, and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) components and systems. His research focuses on commercial building ventilation control strategies and their IAQ impacts; supervisory control for online optimization of energy consumption, IAQ, and occupant comfort; network design for IAQ monitoring, including near-optimal selection and placement of sensors and statistical methods for creating intelligent networks with low-cost sensors; integrated tools for energy and IAQ modeling; and characterization of IAQ parameters in the built environment.
