Admission Requirements

All applicants must have received a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Students whose native language is not English and who do not hold a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. institution are required to take and submit a score from Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Students applying to the M.S. degree in Sport Management will be subject to Drexel’s graduate admissions requirements, along with the following program-specific requirements:

  1. Completed application form
  2. Minimum undergraduate GPA of a 3.0 out of 4.0
  3. Minimum TOEFL score of 600 (if required)
  4. Official transcripts verifying an earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year institution
  5. Three letters of recommendation, with at least one from a professional reference and one from an academic reference. (Note: Letters of recommendation should be requested from individuals who are capable and prepared to make judgments on the applicant’s ability to complete graduate studies.)
  6. Professional resume
  7. Interview with a member of the Sport Management faculty
  8. A 1,000-word essay including a biographical sketch that should include information regarding the applicant’s background and experience in the sports industry, a summary of his or her professional career interests and goals, and a discussion of his or her personal strengths
  9. A minimum of three years of working experience since baccalaureate graduation (Highly recommended)
  10. Individuals whose undergraduate degree is not in sport management or an associated field may still be accepted into the program, but it is expected that they will have some prior experience, either voluntary or paid, within the sports industry

Students may be admitted into the program on the basis of the above criteria, but if their previous studies have not included core courses in sport management, they may be required to take prerequisite courses before being allowed to register for the graduate-level classes. These courses will be determined by their academic advisor.
