| Profile: |
Anish Kumar heads Hillier Architecture’s Urban Design Studio in Philadelphia. In the course of his 18-year career as an architect and planner, Anish has focused on resolving complex land development situations with master plans that have allowed his clients to successfully build new mixed-use communities, re-develop urban areas, improve transit systems, revitalize downtowns, and reuse industrial waterfronts. His clients have included municipal governments, transportation agencies, private developers, land owners, and non-profit groups, and he has led multi-disciplinary teams of planners, designers, engineers, and economists to prepare his recommendations.
Anish has been on the faculty of Drexel University's Department of Architecture since 1996. He has been published in professional journals and is frequently selected to participate in panels at professional conferences. His projects have been recognized with awards from national and local professional organizations.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and of the School of Architecture at Ahmedabad, Anish lives in Center City, Philadelphia. He has served as a member of the Board of the Center City Residents’ Association (CCRA) and the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation’s (CPDC) Neighborhood Marketing and Transportation Steering Committees. Anish is currently serving as co-chair of the Education Committee of the Urban Land Institute’s Philadelphia District Council. |
