James W. Lindemer, CoE '69 MS '74, believed in the importance of education and hard work, and he embodied Drexel University's founding principle of inclusion and equal access to education. After his passing in 1996, I established the James W. Lindemer Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund to carry on his legacy. Jim and I were together for 20 years, 17 as husband and wife. During that time I came to know him as a man of his word and a firm supporter of education and a promoter of civil rights. Because of these admirable qualities, coupled with Jim's untimely death at the age of 50, and the fact that he was an only child without heirs, I felt compelled to carry on his beliefs and his name by establishing a scholarship fund in his memory. This fund has been set up to afford minority students the opportunity to attend a prestigious university, such as Drexel, or the school of their choice. Jim's legacy will live on in the memory of his family, friends, and, hopefully, in the students he taught, as well as the students who have been and will be future recipients of his gift-the gift of learning.
