Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation

Purpose: Student Research Training Awards are meant to attract high quality health profession students to biomedical and behavioral research applicable to oral and maxillofacial surgery. Research Training Grants further the development of experienced scientific investigators who are committed to problems related to oral and maxillofacial surgery, and encourage promising lines of research and clinical investigation. The Zimmer Award offers $55,000 to an experienced investigator whose research is focused on implantology.

SLEEP RESEARCH
American Sleep Medicine Foundation, Strategic Research Award.
Deadline: August 15, 2012
Amount: Up to two one-year grants of $75,000
Purpose: Planning grants or research grants for efforts to improve quality of healthcare delivery in the sleep medicine field. Urgent need for 1) identifying a better framework for healthcare delivery in the field of sleep medicine such as the patient-centered home model; 2) establishing or enhancing patient registries that help healthcare providers better monitor and deliver healthcare while assisting outcomes research; and 3) developing new patient-outcome measures or better validating existing measures to assist healthcare delivery and policymaking.
Eligibility: Physicians (M.D., DO) and Ph.D.s. A physician or scientist who is an active AASM member should be affiliated with project. Competitive application should have significant input from health services researchers and/or biostatisticians in conception/design of proposal or planning grant. The role of the sleep physician/scientist should be clearly defined in the project’s scope.

SPINAL CORD RESEARCH
Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation

Funding: Up to €42,000 ($52,000)
Purpose: To carry out and promote basic and clinical research related to spinal cord injury. The goals of the individual research grant program are to perform or promote basic and clinical research related to spinal cord injury by encouraging new investigator's work (including Ph.D. students and technicians) on regeneration and recovery processes but also to encourage well-established researchers to develop new ideas and/or to transfer their efforts of other areas into spinal cord research.
Eligibility: Wings for Life grants are not restricted to any particular country and the foundation thereby welcome worldwide applications. Only one research proposal per Principal Investigator can be submitted.
