Password Help

At Drexel, you may not tell anyone else your password, not your best friend, not your secretary, not IRT's help desk, not anyone. Letting someone else access your account puts you at great risk because they could drop your classes, change your benefits, or worse – and there'd be no way to prove that it wasn't you.

You should change your password at least a few times a year.  Some accounts, like those that can access university information systems, have to get new passwords frequently to protect such data.

Good Password Guidelines / Password Rules

To protect yourself and your information, you should pick a really good password.  In this case "good" means one that someone won't readily guess.  Don't use your name, birthdate, address, etc.  Don't use cultural references (geeks: NCC-1701 is a bad password).  Don't follow a pattern like A1B2C3.  To ensure the security and integrity of the password, it must meet the following criteria

  1. The password must be between 8 and 16 characters in length.
  2. It must have at least two letters and at lease one non-letter in it.
  3. The password can't be a word in any dictionary.
  4. The new password has to be different from any previous password by at least three characters.
  5. If the beginning and ending characters contain a non-letter, there must also be a non-letter in the middle. (i.e.  0 - 9)

Resetting a Forgotten Password

The Password Reset Service is a lifeline for users who have forgotten their passwords. If users have not yet set up this service, they will be prompted to do so the next time they log into CAMS or click the "Help! I forgot my password" link on the CAMS front page. However, if users close the Password Reset Service page without setting up their security question and answer, they will need to call the IRT Help Desk at 215-895-2020 to retrieve their password.

The Password Reset Service is accessible by clicking the "Help! I forgot my password" link on the front page of CAMS. Instructions for setting up and using the Password Reset Service can be found on AskDrexel here and here, respectively.

If you can't use the Password Reset Service, there are two other ways to reset your password. You can visit one of our help desks at the Korman Center on the University City campus, or the New College Building on the Center City campus. If you can't come in, you may call the IRT Help Desk at 215-895-2020 during our regular hours.

We do not reset passwords via email.
