An Unjust System: Racial disparities in sentencing guidelines

A new study led by C. Clare Strange, PhD, an assistant research professor of criminology and justice studies, could allow Pennsylvania to serve as a model for other states as it reimagines a more equitable justice system. The project, ‘A Statewide Mixed-methods Evaluation of Pennsylvania’s 8th Edition Sentencing Guidelines and their Impacts on Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Sentencing Outcomes,’ is funded by the National Institute of Justice’s W.E.B. DuBois Fellowship Program.
